Founded in 2005, the New Mexico School of Music is home to over 700 students of all ages and musical abilities. Our facilities are specifically designed to create a nurturing learning atmosphere, and include a recital hall, private teaching studios, and comfortable lobbies.
We strive to make the study of music engaging, fulfilling, and fun for our students while providing the highest level of instruction through a well-structured and comprehensive approach.
Teaching music is much more than learning how to read notes or play a few pieces...it is an opportunity to expand students’ life skills: communication, creativity, patience, discipline, and self-confidence.
In addition to lessons, we provide frequent opportunities for further growth for our students through performance and learning opportunities including recitals, festivals, master classes and competitions. NMSM has a tradition of sponsoring once-in-a-lifetime national and international concerts for our students. In recent years we have held concerts at Carnegie Recital Hall in New York, the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, and the Royal Academy of Music in London. In 2025 our students will perform at the Ehrbar Saal in Vienna, Austria.
We believe in fostering young children's natural curiosity to make music at an early age, and our Music FunTime classes are a great starting point for children ages 3-5. Various summer camps and classes are offered during the summer months.
Please call us to speak with our knowledgeable and helpful staff or stop by for a tour of our facilities. We look forward to welcoming you to our musical family!
