A native of Louisiana, Lauren has been playing the flute for more than half of her life and her music has taken her to many parts of the world. She began her studies at McNeese State University earning her Bachelor of Music Performance degree, studying with Dr. Judith Hand.
From there she earned her first Master of Music degree at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, studying with the Principal flutists of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Alison Mitchell and David Nicholson, and piccolo with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra's principal piccolo player, Janet Richardson. Currently, she resides in Albuquerque, New Mexico where she recently completed a second Master's degree in music under Valerie Potter at the University of New Mexico..
Professionally, Lauren has performed in several orchestras including the Lake Charles and Rapides Symphonies in Louisiana. She also competes in many competitions--most recently she advanced to the top twenty-five in the 2014 National Flute Associations Young Artist Competition. She has been teaching private lessons since 2003, and held a teaching assistantship at the University of New Mexico, performing with the graduate woodwind quintet, and teaching flute for non-majors.
